On-device AI, no cloud needed
The newer UniFi cameras run their detection AI on the camera itself — there's a small neural processor inside each unit. That means notifications are smart from day one, your footage never leaves your network so an AI can "look at it", and there's no monthly cloud bill paying for it.
- Person, vehicle, package — the most useful classes, on every AI-capable camera. So the doorbell stops alerting on every leaf that blows past.
- Number plate recognition on AI Pro and AI LPR units — log every vehicle that comes up the drive, with the plate searchable later.
- Smart Detection Search — "show me every person who came through the gate yesterday between 4 and 6pm" returns a few clips, not three hours of footage.
- Face recognition (optional, opt-in) — the system learns the people who live there and stops alerting on them, so the alerts that do come through are meaningful.
- Animal detection — useful if you'd rather not get woken up because the fox is back.

Camera placement, done right
Cameras are easy to mount, hard to place. Before we drill, we walk the property, sketch coverage zones, check sightlines and identify blind spots — so cameras are positioned to actually see what matters and not just the back of a hedge.

Frequently asked questions
Is the CCTV recorded in the cloud?
Not by default. UniFi Protect records to an NVR at your property, so footage stays with you. No monthly subscription and no third-party AI rifling through your footage. We can add encrypted off-site backup as an option if you want it.
Do the cameras work in the dark?
Yes. The cameras we install have high-quality infrared night vision and (on most models) low-light colour modes. On-device AI tells person from vehicle from package, so your phone only buzzes for things that matter.
Can I view it on my phone?
Yes — secure remote viewing through the UniFi Protect app on iOS and Android. Two-factor authentication, end-to-end encrypted, and no public ports opened on your router.
